Mike Higgs

Mike Higgs is a founding partner, along with his wife Terri, of sondance, a faith-based community development nonprofit organization based outside of Carey in Southeast Blaine County. Their local focus is to help others understand and embrace the important role spirituality plays in the quality of place and common good of a community. Mike has been a “spiritual entrepreneur” for close to 40 years. His experience includes two years as a newspaper editor, 15 years as a pastor, and 18 years as the Exec. Director of the Portland Youth Foundation in Portland, Ore., before moving to Idaho and launching sondance in 2001. Mike has authored two books and many articles in his field of expertise, has founded four faith-based nonprofits, and travels widely as a speaker, trainer and mentor. He has experience in helping organizations integrate values and ethics into their corporate cultures. He currently serves as the lead curator of the Portland Collective, is founder of Carey/Picabo Chamber of Commerce, and along with his wife, is a mentor with Sun Valley BAM. He is also the SVI liaison with the faith community and first responders in Blaine County. He and his wife are hosts of a private retreat house located 9 miles north of Carey and have two grown children, Lillian and Levi.
